While our mattress protector is perfect for preventing skin oil, dead skin cells, perspiration, and minor accidents, it is unfortunately not waterproof. Since almost all waterproofing contains some form of plastic in its layering, this can prevent airflow in the material and with your mattress. This airflow is necessary to prevent the buildup of moisture in the mattress, which can lead to mould.
