Congratulations on upgrading your sleep with a Peace Lily Mattress! It is a fantastic choice that will provide premium comfort for many years to come. Now that you have a great mattress, you need to ensure you have the right bed frame to support it. Not only is this necessary for the health of your mattress, but it is an important requirement for the warranty.
There are many different options that you can choose to pair with your mattress, so it can be confusing to know which is actually suitable. Luckily, we are here to help guide you in the decision-making process. We will discuss what criteria you need to look for when choosing your bed frame, and why getting a suitable bed frame for your mattress is essential.
What would be a suitable bed frame?
These are the criteria you should look for when choosing a suitable frame for your mattress:
- A sturdy solid slatted bed base or an adjustable bed base (please contact our friendly customer service team to confirm compatibility with our mattresses).
- For optimum ventilation and support, the slat width should not exceed 9cm (the minimum slat width required is 7cm) and the gap between the slats should not exceed 9cm.
- Adequate ventilation and a minimum base height of 19cm.
- Structurally strong (needs to support you and the mattress).
There are a few different bed frames out there that you should avoid using with the mattress. We cannot recommend flexible and adjustable slat bed bases as they can cause troubles due to lacking the strength necessary to maintain proper mattress support. This is the same for cardboard and box spring bed bases, as the lack of support can lead to the mattress sagging. Solid bed bases with storage units underneath are also not advised as they can block airflow to the mattress. Finally, we strongly recommend not placing your mattress directly on the floor as this can harm its overall health.
If you want an adjustable bed frame, we have a great option perfectly designed to complement our mattresses. The Peace Lily Adjustable Bed Frame has many fantastic features: 4 different positions (such as reading and zero gravity), 9 different massage modes for your head and feet, and under-bed LED lighting to help guide you in the dark. It can provide the support you need with the ability to customise your sleep like you never have before.
Why picking the right bed frame is important.
So we have given you a guide to choosing an appropriate bed frame to use with the mattress, but why is this so important?
-
Weight distribution: This one is obvious, but the right bed frame should be one that evenly distributes the weight across the entire mattress. This helps to promote comfort by preventing any excessive pressure on specific areas of the mattress.
-
Edge support: All the edges of the mattress should be adequately supported by the bed frame. This will not only help to create an even sleeping surface across the whole mattress, but it will also help reduce the risk of sagging.
-
Air circulation: A proper bed frame will promote good airflow to the mattress (especially important for our Latex Mattress). This helps to keep the mattress odour-free and prevents the buildup of mildew underneath. All of this combines to keep your sleeping experience feeling fresh and clean each night.
-
Allergen protection: By ensuring your mattress is elevated on an adequate bed frame that encourages air circulation, you will help to prevent dust mites and other allergens from accumulating. This leads to a more comfortable, healthier sleeping environment.
-
Noise reduction: Nobody likes the sounds of a creaky bed frame when they are tossing and turning. A good quality bed frame minimises these squeaks and creaks to keep you deep in sleep without any disturbances.
-
Long-term investment: Our mattresses are designed to last for many years, but this requires the support of a well-built bed frame. To ensure that your sleep remains great for the years to come, it is important to invest in premium quality for your mattress and bed frame (to save you money in the long run).
It is also important to note that the warranty for your mattress can be voided if you use it with an unsuitable bed frame. Please keep this in mind when making the final decision on the bed frame that you intend to use.
