What is the Regenerative Latex Standard
The mattress industry contributes significantly to emissions, and we believe it’s our responsibility to help change that. Regenerative agriculture allows us to go beyond reducing impact, and instead create measurable benefits for land and farmers. We’re proud to be the first mattress brand globally to receive RLS certification, verifying that our latex is regenerative.
What is the Regenerative Latex Standard?
The Regenerative Latex Standard (RLS) is the world’s first certification dedicated specifically to latex produced through regenerative agriculture. It verifies that latex has been grown, tapped, and processed in a way that restores ecosystems rather than depleting them. When you see RLS certification, it means the product genuinely originates from regenerative farms, not just greener claims or marketing language.
Verified regenerative farming at the source
For latex to qualify, it must come from farms actively improving soil health, water systems, tree vitality, and long-term land viability. These farms follow regenerative principles such as mixed cropping, reduced chemical use, and improving soil carbon. Latex is hand-tapped from mature trees, ensuring both tree longevity and biodiversity across the farming environment.
Full traceability from farm to finished mattress
Unlike general sustainability standards, RLS audits every step of the chain, from raw latex and transport through to processing and final manufacturing. Every batch is documented, tracked, and verified to ensure that certified latex has not been mixed with conventional latex. This means your mattress can be traced back to specific regenerative farms, bringing genuine transparency to a traditionally opaque industry.
Independent testing, quality control, and safe processing
To maintain certification, factories must meet strict quality, environmental, and safety standards. Certified products are tested for purity, material consistency, performance, and safe handling of chemicals used in processing. Facilities undergo regular independent audits and maintain detailed records, ensuring standards are upheld, not just claimed.
Better outcomes for people, land, and communities
The RLS standard does more than verify product quality, it also protects workers and farming communities. Certified supply chains must provide safe working conditions, fair pay, legal employment, and continuous improvement. The result is latex production that benefits farmers, restores natural systems, and produces healthier mattresses for customers, delivering long-term value well beyond the product itself.
