Why Your Mattress Topper Matters More Than You Think

Most people spend thousands on a mattress and then put a synthetic foam topper on top of it. Every night, that topper is the surface your body is actually sleeping on.

If it's made from memory foam or polyurethane, it's off-gassing. If it's a blended "latex" topper, it may be less than 30% actual latex. The cover fabric may not be organic, and the certifications — if any exist — likely cover only one component.

The Peace Lily Latex Topper is different. It's the same certified natural latex we use in our mattresses, in topper form.

What's Inside

Regenagri certified latex

Our rubber farms are certified under Regenagri — regenerative agriculture practices that restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and sequester carbon. The only mattress topper brand in Australia with this certification.

Asthma Australia endorsed

Independently assessed and endorsed by Asthma Australia's Sensitive Choice program. No VOCs, no off-gassing, no chemical residues. Safe for sensitive sleepers, people with allergies, and those with asthma or chemical sensitivities.

100% natural latex core

No polyurethane. No synthetic blending. Natural latex tapped from Hevea brasiliensis rubber trees, processed at our own facility in Sri Lanka near the farms — which means no additives required to prevent coagulation during long-distance transport. The purity is documented, not just claimed.

Memory foam was designed by NASA for crash protection. It works by absorbing and trapping energy — which is why it makes you feel like you're sinking in, and why it retains heat. For sleeping, where you need pressure relief without heat retention and need to move freely through the night, natural latex performs better on almost every measure. Polyurethane foam is the cheap filler. If a topper doesn't specify the material clearly, assume it's this.

The Supply Chain Behind The Topper

Most latex products travel thousands of kilometres from farm to factory. That journey requires preservative additives to prevent coagulation — additives that reduce purity and end up in the finished product.

Our latex facility is located near our rubber farms in Sri Lanka. Short travel time means no preservatives needed. The result is latex of unusually high natural purity — reflected in our Regenagri and RLS (Regenerative Latex Standard) certifications.

When you buy the Peace Lily Latex Topper, you're buying a product whose entire supply chain is documented and certified. Not a marketing claim — a verifiable fact.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a latex mattress topper and a memory foam topper?

Natural latex and memory foam both offer pressure relief, but they behave very differently. Latex is immediately responsive — it moves with you, doesn't trap heat, and doesn't produce the "sinking" feeling memory foam is known for. It's also naturally hypoallergenic without chemical treatment, and substantially more durable. Memory foam is petroleum-derived and typically off-gasses VOCs for days to weeks after unboxing. Natural latex — particularly certified natural latex like ours — has no off-gassing. For most sleepers, latex performs better across temperature regulation, responsiveness, and longevity.

Is a latex mattress topper good for side sleepers?

Yes — natural latex is one of the best materials for side sleepers. It provides genuine pressure relief at the shoulder and hip (the two contact points that take the most load for side sleepers) while staying responsive enough to keep your spine in alignment. It doesn't let you sink to the point where your shoulder is compressed against a solid surface. The Peace Lily topper is suitable for side sleepers, back sleepers, and combination sleepers.

How long does a natural latex mattress topper last?

A quality natural latex topper — particularly one made from 100% natural latex rather than a blended or synthetic product — will typically last 10 years with normal use. This is significantly longer than memory foam (3–5 years) or polyurethane foam (2–4 years). Latex doesn't break down into the same compressed, shapeless form that foam toppers do over time. Our topper also comes with a 10 year warranty.

Is the Peace Lily topper safe for people with latex allergies?

Natural latex can trigger reactions in people with a confirmed Type I latex allergy (an immune system response to latex proteins). If you have a diagnosed latex allergy, consult your doctor before purchasing. For people with general allergies, asthma, or chemical sensitivities who don't have a specific latex allergy, natural latex is an excellent option — it's inherently resistant to dust mites, mould and bacteria, and our product carries Asthma Australia's Sensitive Choice endorsement.

What's the difference between the Peace Lily topper and cheaper latex toppers?

The primary difference is purity and certification. Many toppers sold as "latex" are blended — as little as 20–30% natural latex mixed with synthetic polyurethane. They may carry no independent certifications. The Peace Lily topper uses 100% natural latex, Regenagri certified, with a organic cotton cover and Asthma Australia endorsement. The certifications are verifiable — not marketing language. You're also getting a supply chain story that no other Australian brand can match: our own manufacturing facility, near our own rubber farms, with no preservative additives required.
